The Italians love their Bible and it was natural than during the heydays of the Peplum (1956-1966), Cinecitta produced many Biblical themed movies. One of them is 1963’s Jacob The Man Who Fought With God. The film focuses on the third patriarch’s fight with his brother Esau, his marriages with his 4 wives including Leah and Rachel as well as his fight with the Angel of God. It is a film faithful to the Bible and very well filmed.
